Lyrical 2008:
Hip-Hop 2008:
I'm the dancer of the family. :) These are from last years dance recital. I am currently taking Hip-Hop...Lyrical...and Jazz. I connect to each type of dance in a different way. Hip-Hop is for my more "street" side. Lol. By street I mean I like to be feirce...agressive...mean...powerful...underestimated (I know that's a weird thing to say...but I do like to be underestimated, so, I can prove people wrong. "White girls" get this image of being stuck-up or proper or up-tight. I constantly hear people saying..."Oh white girls can't dance," "White girls can't pop," "White girls can't shake it," etc. So, I like to prove people wrong. I like to make people think twice about what they say. I like to be underestimated.). I also like hip-hop because it is the time that I get to "shake it" or "pop it." It's the time that I get to show the world I'm not going to let it win...I'm going to fight. I love Lyrical because it's the time that I get to be sad. There is only one person in this world who will get what I'm about to say and that's my dear friend Kyle...I sometimes like to be depressed. I don't like being depressed...so this is REALLY hard for me to explain. I like the feeling of sadness. When I'm sad is when my passion...my artistic nature...and my creation of dance appears. When I'm sad...I think the most...and I get the most accomplished. I'm not sure if that will make sense to anyone...but it does me. I also like lyrical because it's the time I can show my emotions and not be scared of what people might say or think. Words don't mean anything in the world of dance...it's the movements that explain everything. Lastly there's jazz. Jazz is the time that I get to be girly...the time I get to be "sexy." Jazz is a mainly sharp-movement dance. Jazz is also a time that I get to take out my frustration...my anger. I love jazz...just because. So as you can tell...dance is my life!
